An Organized Closet!!!

Since my last post was on organizing, I thought I'd show you our Master Closet. I don't think I've ever shown it to you. This is one room in our house that should definitely be larger, especially because our Master Bedroom is 19' x 15', our Master Bath is large, as well and considering the size of our house. The closet is only 8ft by 10 ft with an angle cut off on one side. Compare that to my Foyer which is 8 ft x 16ft. Talk about a useless waste of space... I mean, really, which is more important a Foyer or a Master Closet?

Since I was a closet designer at the time we moved into our home 10 years ago, the Master Closet was the first thing on our list to have done. Those lovely wire closet racks definitely had to go. I needed lots of shelves to store my stuff.

Despite the relatively small size of the closet, I really love it. Now, it isn't pretty like Tee over at Brown Eyed Belle's closet. You'll have to scroll through her Castle Home Tour post to find it, but it is definitely worth it. Notice her wonderful pantry while you are scrolling down to find her Master Closet.

Still, I love my closet as it does the job of holding my clothes, shoes and bags. I added the baskets last year because I needed more space for tanks and t-shirts. Hey, that should have been on my Projects Completed In the Last 12 Months Post! So should the tile floor which was done when the Master Bath floor was installed.

Here's where I put on my jewelry.
I have earrings and bracelets in the top drawer. I keep my necklaces hung up on a tie rack on the door to the left of the baskets. Not sure why I have a lock on the drawer- all of it is costume jewelry!
The rest of the drawers hold underwear, socks and pajamas.
See that rug? I won a giveaway over at DIY Showoff  for $80 at CSI and the rug was the item that I ordered. Gotta love free!!!

Well, that is the tour of our Master Closet! I hope you enjoyed it!

Pam

  3. You have a space to envy, that's for sure! We have his/hers reach-in closets, so definitely envying the space you have! I really like the shoe shelving and baskets area. Looks so nice! We're still chipping away at our closet project, but it's coming along (wish it had been our first priority... living out of wardrobe boxes is no fun)!

I really like how you have set up the sections. Makes perfect use of the space and it looks WONDERFUL! Okay, now I have organizing envy again!

  12. Thanks for stopping by my link today!
As I scrolled down in your posts, I see you are moving too....our house has been on the market for about six weeks. No one; and I mean no one, is looking these days! It is easier to keep it all clean and organized, since it's just two of us now! We've bought a new house down in North Carolina (I'm in NY State) and just cannot wait to get there!
I'm going to subscribe here and look forward to lots of new organize/design ideas from you!

  19. Your closet is inspirational. We are moving into a new(er) house and I'd love to utilize the closets to be more efficient. We do have "his" and "hers" closets in the master which is a wonder to this girl who has lived in a 1956 house for the last 30 years :-)

  29. I love this closet! This is much more realistic than most, most have just a few things hanging, etc. I have a huge closet, angled, but 23 ft long. I don't really know what to do with it. I have double rods on one long wall, then one rod with locking cabinets above on one end. There is a wide area in the middle as you walk in and double rods there. The opposite side wall to the previous long wall has adjustable shelves. Going down the side to the left, a stack of drawers, a set of shelves with 1 rod above and cabinets above that. Nothing on the opposite wall or end because this end is more narrow and it would have to be almost flat. Im hoping to put an ironing board in one place in the entry way. I do have a full length mirror there also.

  30. Finally a closet like mine. I so understand the Foyer vs master closet situation. We have tiny box about 8x10 and with an angled door. I was just about to seriously consider moving my master tub and vanity to gain more space. Whew! Now I can see a better less expensive solution. Thanks!
