A Gorgeous Estate

I was house hunting on the internet the other day and found this gorgeous estate that is a few miles from my home. It is pretty amazing. It boasts approximately 10,000 square feet on  22 acres. Pavered circular drive to 4 car garage, Custom wrought iron gates that take you to a courtyard entry. Sunken living room with grand Fireplace. Gourmet Kitchen opens to hearth room with reclaimed beams. Two pools, media, exercise, two kitchens, pub room, billiard, six fireplaces, two laundry areas.…It is being offered at $4,950,000.
This You Tube video shows all of the rooms. I really love some of the "smaller" secondary bathrooms.

Not sure if I like the finish of the cabinetry... and the island seems too small--but, the hood is awesome!

There is a really magnificent skylight in the Master Bath that is shown in the video.

Second Kitchen

I love this  covered patio area.

The largest home I've  designed cabinetry for was 7,200 square feet. I don't remember an elevator in the house. Once when I was at there, I was in the upstairs laundry room  and  I left my measuring tape in the Master Bath which was on the opposite side of the house and down stairs. There were a lot of stairs because the ceilings were 14 ft high. I remember thinking at this point how much walking you would do living in there. The house was at least a 100 feet wide. Imagine getting in your car to leave the house and remembering something you left in your bedroom on the other side of the house!
Homes like this are truly amazing and I would love to design cabinetry for them, but I don't think I would like to live in one. I would not enjoy having staff in my house all the time and this home would require at least 3 full time housekeepers and several groundskeepers, not to mention maintenance people.
But, that's just me! How about you? Would you like to live in a house like this?

  1. Lots of great architural features, lots of room, two kitchens (three if you count the outside kitchen)...all wonderful, but SO not my style! I would not want to live there...too much to clean, to maintain, look at the grass, how much mowing is that?? Beautiful but not for me!

  2. WOWZA that sure is beautiful Pam! Not much I did not like about it, except of course the price tag. Just gorgeous!

  3. IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!! I even love how it's decorated! You're right about the island. Much, much too small. I wouldn't want to live in anything this big. My house is a fraction of that size & I have someone clean it every 2 wks!!!

  4. I love everything about it and I would be perfectly happy living there;-) I agree with you about the cabinets in the kitchen. I would probably paint them the color of the ones in the second kitchen. And the island would have to be bigger, lol. It's just not in my price range!!

  5. It's beautiful, but I cannot even imagine what kind of life these people must lead. Love the ceiling in the master bedroom. You're right about the housekeeping - it took two cleaning ladies pretty much all day to do mine yesterday, and it's half the size of this one.

  7. WOW!!! Can't even imagine but am thinking it might be something I could get used to. I do agree with you about the island but how easy would that be to fix if you could afford the house ~ tonight in my dreams, I'll be lounging by the pool. Want to join me?

  8. If someone gave me the house, I am sure I could "muddle through".... but really it just seems so large and intimidating to be comfortable... a waterfall... excuse me, two waterfalls...just seems a bit.....much. It sure would be an interesting way to live.

  9. I guess I am just strange because I have a difficult time having people do things for me that I feel I should be doing myself! I even have a hard time in a full service hotel! LOL!!!

  10. True sisters at heart! Does that mean we're "strange" or just too independent for our own good? Like you, I want to be "THE DOER" not "The Receiver."

  11. The home is amazing but there would be a lot of upkeep. I have 15 stairs to run up and down all the time. It can be good exercise. lol That house,as you said, would require a staff.

  12. Nope. I would not be able to tolerate a house that big and I surely would not want any "staff" running around. lol My current home is the right size for us right now and if we do anything it will be down size. I think the decor of that house was too busy for my taste too. Wow. I did like the second kitchen better than the first.

  13. It's a beautiful house, but all I can think is how in the world would you keep it clean?! And I know if you could afford the house, you could afford to hire someone to clean it, but....
