A Little More Organizing

One thing about our home is that it's constantly changing. Cleaning and organizing is just a fact of life. Remember my favorite motto from Bissell; "Life's messy, clean it up"? I always have to remind myself of that!
I do have a confession to make....I do love the organizing part.

But, loving organizing things can also be a curse. (I know, that's a little dramatic). I'm a recovering perfectionist and little things bug me.
Like the following shelf, for example. One basket, with stuff on the side. I've been looking for two baskets that fit on the shelf side by side for awhile now. I could have bought them right off the bat if I wanted to spend the money and pay full price. But, since it wasn't that big of a deal, I waited to find two baskets that fit and weren't too expensive...oh and went with the other baskets in my closet.

The other baskets in my closet hold tanks, t shirts, etc.

Of course you know I found the two perfect baskets at HomeGoods. The shelf looks much neater now : ) Note to self...what's up with the two shelves above the baskets?

You can find the details on the tracks for the baskets HERE
It's pretty easy and the tracks can be installed in one afternoon.

Leave me a comment and let me know what your dream master closet would look like...I read every comment!

The tracks that the baskets are on are called shelving standards and are available at Lowe's and Home Depot.

  1. I'm a little obsessed with organizing myself, but isn't it nice to go into your closet and know exactly where to find what you're looking for?

  3. Boy you would croak if you saw my closet! I want to scream at it all the time! Your's looks marvelous and the baskets must be great to have. I waited too long to get more baskets like the ones I picked up at Michaels and they don't have them any longer. They were pretty good replicants of some that Pottery Barn sells for a fraction of their price. You are where I was at 5 years ago with my 2nd child off to college....empty house. I'm fine with it, but on occassion I do feel lonely and would love to have both my kids running about here again! Enjoy your dinner with your hubby!

  7. Love the closet but how are the baskets hanging. What did you use to get them to hang in a row and are they removable?

  8. Anonymous, regarding the baskets; if you look behind them there are tracks on the wall and the baskets sit on brackets in the tracks. The tracks are adjustable. The baskets are just sitting on the brackets like they would sit on a shelf, so you can take them down as needed.

  16. Any suggestions for organizing purses? Help!!

  17. hey Genamac, you have no reply blogger on, so I couldn't send you an email directly. Regarding organizing purses...it really depends on how much space you have. I keep my purses in the brown baskets above the drawers. You can also get these upright shelf dividers to put in between purses to keep them up. If you have a lot of hanging space, you can put your purses on hangers and hang them on a closet rod.

  21. The Baskets that sit on brackets are a great idea! All of those products - the white hanging standards and brackets, as well as the brown baskets with bow tie - can be found at The Container Store! If you wanted to use other baskets (perhaps ones you already own), you can also use ventilated shelves from The Container Store and place your baskets on there - they can cut shelves down to any size you need!!

  23. Hi Pam!
I found you through Pinterest and love this post!
I recently started a blog and included a picture of the hanging baskets in a post, giving you credit by linking back to this blog post. I realize now that I probably should have asked permission first. Please let me know if you would like me to remove your picture.

  24. Hi Pam!

I would love to know where you got the shelf system for your shoes? Absolutely love the size as it fits so many pairs!!!

  25. Hey Natasha, I couldn't reply by email to you since you have "no reply blogger" checked in your settings, so I hope you see this. The rest of my closet, including the shoe section is custom and was installed by The Closet Factory, who I worked for at the time it was installed. For women's shoes, you need at least 8 1/2" per pair(not counting the side panels of the unit)For 3 pair across, you will need 25 1/2" and for 4 pair across, you need 34"
