Lattice Stenciled Pillow

Last month while creating the  jewelry organizer for our daughter, I knew  I had
to make  something else with the beautiful trellis stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. There was leftover paint and burlap fabric so I stenciled an extra piece and set it on my work table to use at a later date.

Here's the jewelry organizer in case you missed it.

On a side note, I found a taller little "dress form" at HomeGoods and couldn't resist bringing it home for her.

 Anyway...
Our daughter had this cute pillow that I embellished with some fabric flowers, but I though it would be fun to change up the pillow cover.

Yesterday, I finally had a little time to sew the pillow while my daughter was at work. Her new pillow was waiting for her in her room when she arrived home.
She must have really liked it because she wrote this on her facebook status: "I love coming home to new stuff in my room :) #LoveYouMom http://instagr.am/p/NPhUYRkplN/"

Awww.

Her room has evolved over the last few years...It looked like this after we built the bookcases.

Later on, a little vintage table was added after painting it the same color as the back of the bookcases. The little vintage table was my grandmother's.
I really wish I could show you how the whole room looks today, but you'll have to wait until she tidies it up....
Uh, We might be waiting quite awhile.

How do you get your kids to keep their rooms neat? Do you pick it up or do you leave it to them?
Would love to know where I went wrong!

Pam

  1. That stenciled pattern looks like purchased fabric. Looks great and love the color. My son was neat and kept his room fairly picked up, but my daughter was a slob. I just closed her door. She would eventually get sick of it and clean it up herself and then it would start all over.

  2. Love the jewelry wall piece, so cute and the taller bust is great too. Never thought about stenciling burlap, such a great idea and that pillow is fantastic. Love, it. Hugs, Marty

  3. Very nice "change up" Pam. You are a good mother! Lucky you to still have one at home: I miss mine so much. Seeing her at my Mother's in Boston next week, then she'll be down here for 5 days in August. Southpoint Mall: watch out!

  4. You did a great job with everything, Pam. To get a thumbs up on Facebook is something else! I love that little dress form, I think my daughter would like that, too. And the pretty aqua color is so refreshing. Great job.

I keep my daughter's door closed, if you know what I mean!

  5. The pillow is beautiful Pam. CC now that she is in her third year of college is FINALLY getting neater but she was a horror in high school. I never cleaned her room-let them live in the mess is my theory. xoxo, olive
