Christmas Mantel

I finally finished my Christmas Mantel a few days ago. I was waiting on a lighted wreath  to arrive and had to make one more burlap stocking since I only made 3 stockings last year. Our oldest is coming for Christmas, so one more was needed.
This year I decided to cover up the cavernous niche. At first I had Mr. Fanatic lean the burlap covered board up against the wall on the outside of the niche (it used to be in the very back of the niche), but there was very little room for the decorations and wouldn't stand up when the wreath was put on. So, Mr. F had the brilliant idea of putting the board just inside the niche.
It worked perfectly.
The wreath is hung with an over the door wreath hanger and the cord for the lights on the wreath is tucked behind the hanger.
Mr. F also had the brilliant idea of plugging the wreath into the light in the niche(using an adapter of some sort), so that we are able to turn the wreath lights on with the wall switch.
Love it!
See the printed card?
Several of these cards have  Old Testament prophecies concerning Jesus' birth and  Luke Chapter 2 is on the rest of them. It used to be one of our Christimas traditions to read them before dinner (back when we had 12 -15 for Christmas dinner). Everyone at the table received a card at their place setting and we would each read our card, going around the table.
We don't have enough people at our Christmas table or we are at someone else's house, so this year I decided to place some of the cards in the Christmas vignettes around the house.

This is one of my favorite Christmas verses.

Today I'll be working on decorating the live Christmas tree in our Family Room. Don't know about you, but we had to go to 3 different places to find a good tree.
So glad we found one.
How are you doing on your Christmas preps?
