Youngest Daughter's Bedroom

Hello Friends!

Yesterday was the final photoshoot of our youngest daughter's bedroom.

She'll be packing up the last of her things and moving into her own apartment this week about 30 minutes away.

Sniff.sniff.

This means we will have an empty nest; back to being just the two of us. It's been a quick/long 25 years. (our oldest just turned 25 and our youngest will turn 24 in a few months)

Our daughter's room was the first room painted...She and Mr. DIY wasted no time and started painting the day we moved in. The paint was still wet as the movers were bringing in the furniture!

If you remember, our daughter's bedroom was very similar to her bedroom at our last house. The windows are different and her current room is a little larger. If you'd like to see her room at our last house (post was before we found the Craigslist bookcases) , you can find that post HERE.

Ah, these bookcases.
They are still my favorite project of all time. I found some UGLY bookcases on Craiglist for $150 and Mr. DIY transformed them into my design. You can see the transformation HERE.

Our daughter plans to paint the backs navy for the new color palette of the bedroom at her new apartment.

Mr. DIY installed a custom closet for our back in September. We knew she would be moving out this year and wanted her to be able to enjoy it while she was here. Our last house had custom closets in all of the bedrooms and it's difficult to go back to wire racks after a custom closet (even though this closet was a foot wider) You can see the transformation of her closet HERE.

We plan to make this into a 2nd guest room. This one will be designed for adults and the smaller guest room next door, will have a daybed and trundle.
When I see you next time, the nest will be empty.

Hope you'll think of me this week.

  1. The bookcases are gorgeous! I would fill them with my white ironstone. Lovely room.

  2. How fun for your daughter. She'll have fun setting up her new place! I know you'll turn the room into a great guest room! It's very generously sized.

  3. That makes me sad but happy for her! My oldest has moved out but not taken any of her stuff yet! She's not really settled though. I love the bookcases and her closet! It will make a great guest room and gives you another project to work on!

  4. It looks like as your daughter is fond of decoration and is well aware about all the techniques because I never have seen any bedroom like her.
