How To Make A Party Banner

Well, I FINALLY took my Silhouette machine out of the box and used it to make the Congratulations Banner for Jenny's Graduation Party a couple of weeks ago! It was a Christmas present from Mr. Fanatic...It took me 5 months to open the box... C'mon, I know I'm not the only one who does this!!!

The first thing I have to say is...put the tutorial disk in and watch it! If you need some extra visuals, there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube.

It already came with a library, so after loading the software onto my laptop, I imported the letters into a new file and made them the size I wanted them.

It does a great job cutting out the letters.

This is what the paper looks like after you take off  the cut letters.
Hmmmm, I could probably make some fabulous stencils, too!

I cut some larger green circles, then some smaller white circles...

...then used a glue stick to glue them all together. I punched two small holes at the top (at about 11 and 1 o'clock on the green circle~ sorry, no photo), then put a ribbon through.

Voila!!!  Not bad for the first time using it!

Would love to make some screen printed pillows with my Silhouette. Anyone else have a favorite project you'd like to make with one?

ps...if you missed the Graduation Party post, you can see it HERE.

  1. Pam, I have always wanted one of these, Your projects turned out fantastic

  2. I don't have a Silhouette, but it looks like you could devote an entire blog to projects you create using one. I'd love to see you do a pillow.

  3. I don't have the Silhouette but I really could have used one when I was still teaching!! Your banner turned out great! And I love the tablescape!

  4. Cute banner. Nice to have a Silhouette, but I don't.

  5. I love it Pam! That is just adorable and we are so glad you shared it with us at Inspiration Friday this week! :-)

  6. No, you are not the only one to buy something and leave it in the box for months! I also have a Silhouette that I bought months ago and it is still in the box. I did check to make sure all the parts and pieces were there, but have done absolutely nothing with it, though I was JUST DYING to get my hands on one. Sometimes I just cannot figure my own self out!

LOVE the banner, that is a keeper. It looks very well made, something you can use again and again. I love the colors.

  7. This is so cute, I love the colors too!

  8. Wow, that is really amazing! I have always wanted to buy one of these, this is one more reason!

  9. What a great post! Love your banner and those pretty colors.
