Spring Fever

The weather for the past few days has been absolutely beautiful so I naturally headed outside for some much needed work in the garden. I can always find something to do out there ... This time of year there is a lot on my gardening list. The big one for me is to cut back the 100+ liriope (aka monkey grass) in my yard. Liriope should be cut back every year since new growth shoots up.

They look like this after I cut them back. I trim them by hand with a pair of scissors because the weedie wacker sends them flying everywhere & makes it difficult to pick up.The trimming must be done before the little shoots come up. You definitely don't want to cut off the new leaves or else the plant will look hacked all season.

 In a few weeks this:

will become this:
Amazing isn't it? The transformation is really awesome to me. Of course we will have to top off the mulch a little bit. You can see more photos of my garden here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Pam

  1. I absolutely love your garden. That does sound like a lot of work though. I guess you have to trim it the same way you cut lavender. It will all be worth it in a few weeks though.

  3. Pam, I have got to do the same back breaking work. I don't even know how many I have, but not as many as you I don't think.
