Little Details

Ya'll know we're getting ready to paint the kitchen and breakfast room a different color. It seems like it's taking forever!! We have one more coat on the ceiling to do, then I can paint the walls : )
One thing that needed to be done was to move the chandelier closer to the window by about 8 inches. Can you tell it's not centered over the table? I couldn't wait for this to get taken care of.

So, Mr. Fanatic moved the electrical box and patched up the old hole. Here it is patched. Now that there's a coat of paint on the ceiling, you can't tell where the old hole was. Mr. F. did a fantastic job.

Now, the chandelier is centered over the table. I love it!
Now on to patching all the other holes in the walls!

  1. I need to also move my light fixture above my table.. when they build these dining rooms, Why do they put the 'hole' in the wrong place....?
Your breakfast room is so very calming and looks really nice!

  2. Pam, isn't it nice having a husband that is handy? If I ever paint the kitchen ceiling again I want my light centered, too. Seems electricians get them off center a lot. Have fun painting.

  4. It is the little things Pam that make all the difference. Moving chandes is not a little project for sure. I remember when we lived in S. Florida my husband had a hung a chande in the dining room. It was so high, drove me nuts. It took him years to fix it, then we moved shortly after that LOL!~ We left the chande there, and it was a gorgeous antique, he just could not bare to go up there again.

  6. Chandie issues seem to be big ones for us too. We have one we bought in Italy (it' glass) that we need to move from our old house to our vacation house. It is going to be an all day project!

  7. Looks good Pam! The light over my kitchen island drives me nuts too because it not centered with the island! Happy painting, Martina

  8. I feel for you. My dining room light is not centered over the table. My handy hubby has moving it on his list but it keeps getting bumped down. I guess it doesn't bug him as much as it bugs me. Mr. Fantastic did a fantastic job. Your dining room is gorgeous BTW.

  10. Mr. Fanatic did a great job moving the light. When we centered our chandelier over our table, I had to add a ceiling medallion to cover the old hole.
It's so frustrating when light fixtures are placed in odd positions in an eating area, and while swagging the fixture is a simpler solution, it sometimes draws even more attention to the flaw.
Have a happy weekend, Pam. Your room looks fantastic!
