What To Do With Toilet Paper Tubes

Do you save toilet paper tubes with no plan as to what to do with them?
I've been saving toilet paper tubes for several months now, ever since seeing a cute Christmas craft on Pinterest last fall. I never got around to making that Christmas craft, but still kept saving them

Well, here's what they ended up becoming...

I just cut them in half , marked the outside and filled them with pre-moistened organic garden mix.  After planting the seeds the tray was put in the window in my breakfast room. Starting seeds indoors before the frost helps you get a jump on the growing season.

Here's some of the bounty from last year's vegetable garden:

It's always hard for me to believe that the little seeds being planted in the middle of winter are going to grow and become beautiful plants like this.

Hope you have a bountiful day!

  5. What a neat idea!! I use them to make Christmas crackers. I fill them with candy and cover them in wrapping paper. Then, I tie them with a bow on each end. I leave them in a big dish for guests to take with them when they leave!

    Enjoy your day.

  7. You are too smart! Great idea for the t.p. rolls. Loved the previous post on your family room - great new color under the stairs. Oh, I have those same 2 Alice in Wonderland books - found them at GW - why would anyone get rid of them?!Linda

  12. You are one creative and resourceful lady. When I saw the title of the post my first thought was, I could be burying those rolls in the garden since the worms love paper. Duh!! Thanks for making me think. Love seeing all your beautiful photo's and reading about your adventures and accomplishments in the garden. You are awesome. Thanks for being an inspiration to me.
