New Paint For The Family Room

I hope y'all had a fantastic weekend! I didn't get much any projects done with the Walking Dead Marathon on this weekend and with a stabbing headache on Sunday. So glad I don't have very many of those headaches to deal with!
Thought I'd share the before and after photos of the Family Room. We are enjoying the new lighter and brighter feel of the room and am happy with the choice of color, which is Benjamin Moore White Sand. Painting the Family Room and Foyer now brings up some other interior decorating choices, but I will  leave that for another time.

Family Room before painting:

The Family Room after...
The big window looks really bare now that the paint is lighter. It definitely needs some curtain panels.

Would really love to build up a new mantel and close up the niche by closing it up with some nice moulding above it.
One thing leads to another...oh, the possibilities!

  1. It looks nice and fresh. That room was probably a real painting challenge with its tall ceilings. It turned out great!!!

  2. Pam, I know you are glad it is finished. It is fresh and clean. I know your head is now filled with ideas. I have so much painting to do and I am not doing any of it. xoxo, olive

  3. That is the concern I have about changing out from my gold walls. One thing leading to another! LOL! Your color sure looks beautiful. I will have to check out your swatch color to see how close it is to the one I'm leaning towards since yours turned out so great. :) Have a great day!

  4. Pam, you are so right...one thing definitely leads to another and there is not enough time!! I love your changes, especially with the dark wood and the black furniture. I love your aqua pillow...I could use that, lol!! Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I tried to comment on your vase project, but my iPad kept kicking me off, anyway, loved that with the pretty hydrangeas!!

  5. Oh, I love White Sand. That is what I used in the sun room. I kind of want to redo our great room, foyer and upstairs in it, too since all those walls join together just like yours. Now I just need to save up to have it done because I don't want to do it myself again.

  12. I can't believe how different the room looks with the new paint! It looks really beautiful! It is so clean and fresh looking. I think Becca at Adventures in Decorating did something with her mantle like you are talking about. I will try to find it and send it over to you!

  14. Pam, are you still loving your new paint? I am in the process of painting over a color very similar to yours and going lighter and brighter but I am just afraid of loosing the warmth. I love this color though.

  15. Hi Pam, I too have been looking at paints for our living room, dining room and very large entryways and really love your choice of color. Pamela from the above post asked if you still like the color?? I am very curious as well as I am afraid of loosing the warmth as well. I also have a question to ask you about the storage shelves that you have made. You stated that you used Torx head 3" self tapping deck screws. Was there any particular reason you chose these screws or were they just what you had on hand?? I am getting ready to build 4 of the units myself.
    Thanks and love your site!!
