The painters have finished and our house is now put back together...for now. Our Family Room, Foyer and two Hallways desperately needed painting, so we called in some professional help to get it done. Mr. Fanatic and I are diyers for the majority of things that need to be done around the house, but painting 18 foot ceilings is something best left to the professionals. Plus, what probably would have taken a whole month of weekends(if we were lucky), only took the painters a few days.
I'm sure you remember how it looked before with the yellow/orange/gold walls...lol...it all depended on the time of day. The color was very cheerful, but I was ready for a more neutral background.
Here's what you would see if you dropped by and walked in the front door...
Here's before the painters arrived ...looking back toward the front door.
The house looked like this for a few day...
And here's the after...stepping in from the front door... I love how the dark wood and painted furniture looks against the light paint. The large arched window seriously needs a window treatment!!!
The photos were taken in the afternoon from with the sun coming in...the paint color shows up a little pink, but it's actually a greige color~ beige with a touch of gray. The paint color is Benjamin Moore White Sand.
It's very light and bright and gives a feeling of calm.
I took the old curtains off the sidelights and am thinking of using my lattice stencil that I used to make our daughter's jewelry organizer to make some burlap privacy panels....or I could do something drapy (and stenciled) from the top of the transom to the floor on each side. What do you think?
Our painters did a fabulous job...even by my standards. Mr. Fanatic and I are really particular about our painting (which is one reason why we don't usually hire someone to do it), but the guys at Regal Home Improvement did a great job and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They even vacuumed my carpet and cleaned up really well when they were finished. Plus, the price was also very reasonable.
If you are in the Charlotte, NC area and you need a painter I highly recommend them. You can reach them at (704) 777-6759. You can also like them on Facebook HERE.
FYI~I did not receive any money or discount for this recommendation .
Will be showing you how great our Family Room looks later on in the week.
Pam
Love the new wall color. I have the same issue with front door side panels and transom. I found a Pinterest post about using frosted spray paint and have tried it and really like. You can even use it with stencils.
ReplyDeleteI love a freshly painted space :) you have to be floating on cloud nine! I love your color choices and home. Do you plan on submitting your colors to Favorite Paint Colors? Your choices are winners, I can't wait to see the family room.
ReplyDeletePam, I love the new bright color. I wish I lived close enough to use them. I will have to find someone good here when I want mine done again. We have always done it ourselves, but we are getting too old for these high ceilings.
ReplyDeleteThe new color looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hire painters too. Those extra high ceilings make me nervous!
Your home is beautiful!
Pam, it is a beautiful wall color. I would not be climbing that high either.Olive
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pam! I love the new lighter and brighter look!
ReplyDeletePam, that is gorgeous!! I love it with your floors and furniture! So serene looking. Excellent choice!
ReplyDeleteIts like a whole different space! very light and serene :-)
ReplyDeletePam, i love the new color! it looks so beautifully refreshing!...I know what you mean about the high ceilings...best to leave it up to the professionals...so glad that you had an excellent experience with them...!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you decide to do with the sidelights on the front door!
Really pretty Pam, so bright. Bet you're glad to have your house put back together.
ReplyDeletePam, it looks so good!! I know you must love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat color! Glad to know the name of it. We got rid of walls with more gold (and recovered furniture, too). I like the way the dark furniture looks with your new wall color, too. Linda
ReplyDeleteIt really looks nice Pam; very cool and refreshing and peaceful. I would go with a minimal look on those side panels. What about actually stenciling right on the window? Sort of a frosted look? Or a light lace panel?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog. Love your new paint color - so fresh and it really is amazing how a little paint change can make such a dramatic change. Beautiful! Following you. Jane
ReplyDeleteWe have lived in our house 6 months and the color is so dark...love yours. I love your entry way. Makes me want to work on my own. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBlessings My Friend,
Love the new color. It looks amazing and your home is so beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt looks so very pretty. I think you made a great choice hiring someone. It's hard to do some of those jobs without the professional tools. And like you said, it would take a month of weekends and now it's done. Sometimes, it pays to pay ;) Loving the color. I need something similar. I have cottonwood now, a light bg, but I want it even lighter. We have so many gloomy days, I need all the help I can get to keep it bright. The current color was great at the last house, but this house is much smaller. I need to go lighter!! Love yours. Again, so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteMy main level is the exact same color and I too an going for the gray/beige. I took my side light curtains off as well but for now we are liking the openness. I am thinking about doing a window cling or etch on the window. It looks beautiful and I can't wait to start mine!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bj
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteI love the lighter brighter color.
I adore your beautiful home.
Dee
The new color is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks lovely. We, too, just had the inside of our home painted. I used Benjamin Moore Kangaroo. I have had white walls forever and wanted some color. The painted we used was BM Aura(sp). I love that paint. It all went on in 1 coat. It was expensive paint but cost us less in the end, and it looks beautiful. We also have very high ceilings, so would have been impossible for us to do. This was the first time I have ever hired out any painting, but it was well worth it.
ReplyDeleteThe new color is beautiful...great choice! And I'm with you, I absolutely love the look of dark wood against a light backdrop. It's very striking.

Pam the new color looks great, but I really love that mirror you have in the entrance.

Hi Pam. You popped by my blog. So I just had to visit yours. Your home looks so pretty. I love it before and after!
ReplyDeleteLovin' the new color! It looks fresh and airy.
ReplyDeleteLove the new paint color! We have also recently switched from a "golden" color to a gray-beige. I love the calming affect as well! It looks great!
ReplyDeletePam, I love the transformation! The lighter color looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe new color looks amazing!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful color! I love the new look! It's so calming and peaceful! Where did you get that light fixture? It's amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth!

Wonderful photos of your lovely home, and I love your new color. I've been thinking of taking the leap to a more neutral color as well, and your beautiful end result is an inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing more. (Benjamin Moore is the only paint I'll use on my walls and woodwork as it's tough as nails, lasts forever, is so easy to apply, and there's just something about it that makes your walls look extra rich and, well, fantastic!)
ReplyDeleteFantastic Pam~ WOW, it really did change everything. There is no way we could paint ours ourselves either. You must be thrilled and feel like you are in a new house~
ReplyDeleteI love it! I so want to paint mine and have been teeter tottering on colors. I love the lightened up look and getting one step closer to leaving my gold yellow walls behind as well. Your rooms turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeletePam it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm about to have the same thing done to my foyer/great room/halls. I hate to hear that it takes more than one day though...ugh...I hate having everything in a mess. Love the new paint color. When I lived in Raleigh, my house had a ledge in the foyer just like yours, and seeing yours makes me miss it. I loved decorating it for holidays. My hubby climbing the ladder to execute my 'wonderful' ideas....not so much!
ReplyDeleteLove the new color. Also, that black front door is awesome. I keep thinking about painting mine.
ReplyDeleteYour rooms wear the new wall color well. Love everyone's black doors and hoping to create a few myself this year. And from a fellow Charlottean, thanks for the tip on the painters.
