Temporarily Repurposing A Picture Frame

Hope you all are having a great week and enjoying the Christmas season.
I'm nearly done with the Christmas decorating. Then on to the baking : )

note to self: start decorating the week of Thanksgiving next year

Seriously, this is taking longer than expected, but I'm nearly finished with the main floor. Since Mr. and Daughter Fanatic both worked last weekend, I thought it would be better to go this Saturday to get our live tree. We have a pre lit artificial tree in our living room, but our daughter keeps guilting me into getting a live tree, as well. (something about she only has a few more  Christmases living at home)
How did I get on that rabbit trail?

Back to the project at hand...
I needed  a backdrop for our nativity scene in the Foyer.

I really wanted a large fancy gold picture frame, which I was going to paint the center part with black chalkboard paint and write O Holy Night on it. Was going to use this mirror that we had in the Powder Room(it's painted oil rubbed bronze and would have to return it to it's original finish), and went to HomeGoods for a replacement mirror for the bathroom.
No Luck.

So, I used what I had and improvised.  This framed sunflower artwork was already perfect for the chest in the foyer.

I took some wrapping paper, cut it to fit inside the frame, then hot glued 4 small dots in the corner on the glass. Hopefully, it will be easy to get off after Christmas.

Then I glued some 4 ply jute string (that I already had) to the wrapping paper.

It's a great backdrop to the nativity scene.

Will show you the nativity scene another time, since we haven't had sun in 2 days.
Another project done.
What projects are you working on?

  6. Very pretty! I've come to the realization that if I want to do my normal Christmas decorating I have to take at least a day off work & have a long weekend. Otherwise, it just doesn't get done.

  9. Nativity is excellent for Christmas Decor. Nativity refers to the birth of Jesus, and a Christmas craft is involving baby Jesus.
