Getting Organized In The Kitchen

Let The Organizing Begin!!!

It's a new year, which means it's a great time to organize those spaces  you use every day. Our Kitchen is one of two spaces I can think of that are in desperate need of organizing.

Thank goodness Mr. DIY had a couple of hours to spare and made an organizer for our 2nd most used kitchen drawer 

I laid everything out in the drawer the way I thought they would fit best.

Then, I drew how large each section would be on graph paper.

Mr. DIY purchased some 1/4" thick 3" x 4 ft. poplar boards at Lowes. The finished width is 2 1/2", so he only had to cut them to length.

He used a thin plywood purchased in 2 x 2 sheets for the bottom.

 I didn't want to put a clear coat on the wood, but wanted to protect the wood, so I used some Contact Grip Prints to line the bottom of each section.

I measured each section, then cut them out. Each section needed a little trimming because no board is ever 100% straight. 

I added some liner at the end in the sections where the knives will go to protect the drawer for their pointed tips. 

So glad we can check this drawer organizer off the project list.
