A Simple Summer Tablescape

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a good week and staying cool wherever you might be! So glad you stopped by!

It's just the two of us this week, as our youngest daughter is spending the week in Florida with a friend. Most evenings it's just the two of us anyway these days, so setting a pretty table is so easy.



I've made it a goal this year to use the pretty things I own more often, instead of just bringing them out for special occasions. I encourage you to do so, as well. Why have pretty things if you aren't going to use them???

I set a vase of Alstromerias in the footed silver bowl I found at the Goodwill. I added some glass rocks you use in vases.

The place setting consists of my Gorham Breckinride china, mid-century Boopie glasses, Wallace Continental Bead Flatware, Napkin, placemat and tablecloth are from HomeGoods, charger from Hobby Lobby and antique silver napkin rings, which were a gift from my mother in law.

I found this beautiful silverplate pitcher on ebay for a great price last year. The white napkin was another Goodwill find.


I'm going to encourage you to get out your good stuff and set a pretty table. Look around your home and use some of your pretty things to set a nice table! Get your kids involved and have them do it! When my girls were little I would give them a photo of a table setting and have them set the table. The photo made is so easy.

    I like to set a pretty table as often as I can. We have company quite a bit, so I do. Your table is gorgeous...love the water pitcher and your beautiful china. Your hubby must feel pampered!

    I definitely agree! We all put our "good" china, silver etec. away, and then never use it all. So we have it out now, right on the shelves in the kitchen, and it's such a pleasure to choose just which pieces to use for dinner!

    so pretty! i have to admit, a bouquet of flowers in the middle is about as pretty as my table ever gets!! maybe when my kids are older!

    This is so lovely Pam! I really like the blue/green color pallette and I have a set of those same glasses. My grandmother collected entire settings for us for years and then gave them to us (Heather and myself) as wedding gifts! :-)

    You are right. Why do we put away our pretty things? We should use them everyday. That will be a new goal. Your napkins and napkin rings are so pretty.

    Everything looks beautiful! So glad you posted all the silver. I've been really wanting a silver pitcher. I have seen quite a bit of silver at Goodwill lately and am not sure how to tell if it's really silver or just the cheap stuff. How do you know? Most all of it has turned colors.

    I couldn't agree with you more Pam, we should use our pretty dishes and silver more often. After years of raising your kids I'm sure it's nice to have a dinner for two once in a while.

    Lovely table! You are so right; we really need to use and enjoy the lovely things we have instead of hiding them away for a special day.

    Love those Boopie glasses! The placemats and napkins add a nice pop of color to your setting.
