Spring and Easter Tablescapes

Every Easter, Mr. DIY makes a delicious dinner with  beef tenderloin as the  main dish. This year will be the exception because he'll be working at church and won't get home until about 12:30 or so. Because of this, we'll be having Easter dinner at our favorite restaurant nearby.

I'll be sharing my favorite Spring and Easter tablescapes from recent years.

Bunnies are always the centerpiece for our Easter tablescapes. We kept bunnies as pets when I was a child, so they have a special place in my heart.

Our screened porch is always a favorite place to eat in the Spring, especially when the trees are greening up beautifully.

Post Bridal Shower Tablescape

Pretty flowers are grea inspiration for a tablescape in the Breakfast Area.
The day after the bridal shower, there were so many beautiful flowers in the house, I just had to take advantage of them and set the breakfast table.

I kept the white tablecloth, burlap overlay, votives and wood round made from a tree trunk that Mr. DIY cut down at the Mountain Cottage. The woven placemats, dishes, napkins, utensils were shopped from the house.

Because of the beautiful flower arrangement in the Dining Room, I couldn't help setting that table, as well.  But, I'll save that tablescape for another time.

Table For Two for Easter

This year it may be just the two of us- Mr. DIY and I. Our daughter made plans  to go to Charleston this weekend without realizing it was Easter. She may be back in time for dinner and than we'll add another place setting.

Fall Tablescape In The New Breakfast Room

Hello friends!

Those of you who stop by regularly know that the Breakfast Room at our last house was my favorite room to decorate and to do a tablescape in. The shape of the room with the 3 windows and a door to the deck really brought in a lot of light, especially in the morning. The long white sheers on all the windows gave a dramatic feel to the space.

The Breakfast Room at our new house still has a ways to go and doesn't inspire me yet. That's probably why this is the first tablescape in our new house after living here for a couple of months.
Of course some colorful flowers helps make any space feel pretty.

I bought a pair of the same Ikea Vivan sheers that we had at our last house. They are easy to clean and don't cost a lot if they need to be replaced. As you can see, Mr. DIY "jerry-rigged"  the chain on the chandelier. It was too low and we were always hitting our head on it. I'm still deciding on which chandelier I want to buy to replace our current one. We also have to decide where the new placement will be, which will be determined by the piece of furniture that I want Mr. DIY to build to hold some of my extra dishes, pitchers and plate stands.

Sorry for the rabbit trail... back to the fall tablescape...
A vintage tablecloth is laid over a simple white one.

Mikasa Italian Countryside are my everyday dishes and some green salad plates that were purchased at HomeGoods several years ago were added to that. The glasses are vintage "Boopie" from Anchor Hocking.

I think the screened porch has replaced the Breakfast Room as my favorite space. I love spending time out there sitting in my mom's wicker rocking chair. The table is new and I'm working on adding a couple of pieces of furniture. These things take time.

Yesterday was Mr. DIY's birthday and our daughter brought home some little Bundt cakes from a little place nearby called Nothing But Bundts. They were delicious!

Thanks for stopping by to see the first tablescape in the Breakfast Room at our new house!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope you have something nice planned for Valentine's Day and get to spend it with someone you love.

Mr. DIY brought me two bouquets of flowers yesterday. I can't get over how beautiful and red the roses are.

Fall In The Breakfast Room

The first room I start to  decorate for a season is our Breakfast Room. It's an easy room to decorate; I just start by setting the table.

Easter Breakfast Table

With Easter just a few days away, I figured I should get out of bed to at least set the Breakfast Table.
If y'all are wondering why I've been in bed, go to this post HERE
Last week we went to Chicago for my mother in  law's memorial and I've been really tired since we've been back and have been recuperating by just sleeping a lot.
I finally mustered up a little energy (about 20 minutes worth), and felt I should use it decorating the table.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Before Christmas decorating begins, I wanted to share with our Thanksgiving tablescape with you.
Mr. DIY brought me a colorful Fall bouquet and I used those colors to inspire my table.

Wedding Inspired Tablescape

The hydrangeas  Mr. DIY gave me for Mother's Day have big beautiful blooms on them that are fading, but
I thought they were so pretty and wanted to bring them inside.
Some pretty white chrysanthemums were calling my name at Trader Joe's and thought they'd be perfect with the hydrangeas, so I brought a $3.99 bunch home and put them together in a large white pitcher.

As I set them on the table, I thought they would look  pretty as a wedding centerpiece.
Maybe I have weddings on my mind because my brother is getting married (for the first time) in a couple of weeks.
So, I decided to set the table in our breakfast room inspired my brother's upcoming wedding.

I used plain white china dishes placed on silver colored chargers accented with green salad plates . The crystal is our wedding set by Waterford and the pattern is Maeve.

These silver plated napkin rings were given to me by my mother in law. I love the one with her name engraved on it.
The napkins were found at HomeGoods.

I just love hydrangeas, don't you?

We are looking forward to our brother's wedding coming up soon and I can't wait to meet his bride.
This tablescape will definitely put me in the mood for the wedding.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Easter Breakfast Table

Our Breakfast Table needed a little dressing up since Spring has sprung and Easter will be here soon, so I found the Easter bin in the basement and put a few things out.
Don't know about you, but it's almost like Christmas getting into bins with pretty things in it that you haven't seen in a year!

I found this cute bunny at HomeGoods last year and thought it would look good on the pedestal bowl in the center of the table.

Green and pink and blue set against a white tablecloth  us perfect for Easter...

...as is our wedding china Artois by Limoge. The flatware is a previous every day pattern and the glasses are my favorite vintage glasses by Anchor Hocking.

I set a flameless tea lite inside the silver votives I found at Target at Christmas, then placed the almost clear Easter egg on top so that the light would shine through.

The  faux green grass was one of the items found in the Easter storage bin.

Now all I need is a springy bouquet of fresh flowers for the silver champagne bucket underneath the herb boxes.

We're staying home for the next two weekends, so we'll be working on a short "honey do" list. I'm hoping to do a couple of pretty projects included on that list, as well as doing more planting in the garden.

As for Easter, Mr. DIY will be making our traditional beef tenderloin for dinner. One question we always bring up at this time of year is how did ham for Easter come about when Jesus had lamb for Passover and Jewish people didn't (some still don't) eat  pork?
Anyone know the answer?
Anyway, what do you traditionally have for Easter dinner? (if you celebrate Easter)

Would love to know!

Simple, But Pretty

Nothing fancy here today! Hey, it's summer and it's HOT, but that doesn't mean you can't take time to set a pretty table!

Went to HomeGoods yesterday and ya know what that means! I picked up a few things. I finally found a white pitcher that I liked. Had been looking for one for ages.

See, nothing fancy...it took all but 5 minutes. My girls used to set the table when they were little. I mean  4 years old. I gave them a photo of what the place settings should look like. I hope they still remember how to do set a table by themselves ~ they haven't set one in a long time.

I found the cute salad plates at HomeGoods, as well. $2.99 each. You can't beat that...ok, maybe at Goodwill or a garage sale. They go perfectly with the Gorham Breckenridge dishes I already had.

The chargers are from Hobby Lobby and the flatware is Continental Bead by Wallace.

Water glasses are from Target. These glasses get used every day.

Buddy popped his head in the window to see what I was doing. He's the sweetest thing...he will "make eyes" at me through the window by squinting repeatedly when I look at him. It's pretty funny. I get a little nervous when he's out there looking in at me because he's been known in the past to climb out onto the outside of the window sill where there's no deck below him and it's one story up (we have a walkout basement).
One day when I was cleaning the deck he was doing that and fell down to the flower bed about 12 feet below. Nearly gave me a heart attack, but he was ok. Funny, I haven't seen him walk the window sill since he fell. Hope he's learned his lesson.
Hope you are in the middle of a fantastic week!
