After spending a week at the cottage last week, I was ready to make something pretty.
If you saw the Mountain Cottage (before) House Tour of the interior, you will understand why.
Not only was the interior looking pretty bad and in need of an update, it was
REALLY dirty.....
as in "it hadn't been cleaned in years and someone who lived there was a smoker" dirty.
Add to that, we were basically camping in the house as there is no furniture there yet, and we were sleeping on air mattresses (but we bought 3" thick gel foam pads to go on top),
and add to that.....I was stung over 8 times on my left arm by yellow jackets because I mistakenly stepped on a yellow jacket nest...
oh, and we had no internet or tv.
All I could think of all week was that we are soooooo spoiled and blessed living where we do back home. (and of course, because we have a mountain cottage to reno)
After coming home, I definitely needed a little prettiness, so I did the easiest thing to pretty up the house and that was to set a pretty table in the Breakfast Room.
I already had all of the dishes, chargers, napkins, placemats, etc.
But, I did splurge on these little guys. Found them at Trader Joe's for 99 cents each.
They also had these gorgeous mums for $5.99
Just couldn't resist these beauties. Of course, I will prune them back and plant them in a sunny spot after they are finished blooming.
What do you like to do when you feel the need to make something pretty?
Do you plant some flowers, fluff up your Family room, set a table?
Would love to know.
Pam

ReplyDeleteok....I'm headed to Trader Joe's tomorrow morning for sure! Youngest brother is coming for a first visit here, and my gardens don't exactly have a lot in them...
ReplyDeleteLove your table and the "prettiness"!
Good question, Pam ... sometimes I like to just add a little festive piece OR sometimes I get the urge to paint the entire room and start over! Ha! I love your Fall table ... beautiful, as always! And, I know you're working hard at the cottage ... all of that work is going to pay off ten-fold! Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, this is a happy table with the darling colored pumpkins. Glad you had all the other table accessories to set your pretty! The beautiful mums will be enjoyed now and when they bloom again from your care in planting them. I try to reuse plants in the garden for it is a joy to see the bloom again! Have a great week from one Pam to another!

ReplyDeleteOh gees Pam- you got stung 8 times!! That had to hurt! I guess roughing it gets a bit too rough at times! Good thing you have your lovely home to come back to! Your tablescape looks wonderful! Love the little pumpkins and the color of those mums! I like the burlap you wove around them too!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks so pretty. Those salad plates are beautiful. What a wonderful place to dine, with sunshine coming in from that beautiful bay window. Your chandelier is gorgeous. laurie
ReplyDeleteHello Pam....Nice job on the table setting.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I like to bring organization to something----like drawers or cabinets---and, also, buy flowers from the supermarket. If roses are cheaper by the two-dozen, I'll do that! Susan
Your table is beautiful, Pam. I was online looking at Italian Countryside again this morning. I am really tempted to add it to "the collection".
ReplyDeleteThat's just beautiful Pam. I know the feeling about needing something pretty around you when you got home. I can't wait to see what you do with the cottage though.
