We're plugging away on the "get the house ready to sell" list. It's a long list and with him doing 90% of the work, it's going to take several months.
But, I don't want to think about that right now. One can only do so much and we're taking things one day at a time until I get better.
Our bedroom was a dark brown for several years and the paint was scuffed up and had marks in some areas. The ceiling and trim had never been painted since we bought the house almost 15 years ago.
We decided to go light and bright and neutral with the paint for resale. It's a little too neutral for me and I would love to have a little more color, but we'll see.
Here's the after:
The paint color is White Sand - a Benjamin Moore color, but we had Sherwin Williams mix it since SW is a lot closer to our house, plus there was a 30% off sale.
White Sand is the color we have in our Family Room, but it looks a little different in our bedroom.
We are really happy with how the ceiling came out. It's a house flat ceiling paint from Boone Interiors. It covers really nicely.
I keep this teak chest at the end of our bed. It was a wedding present to my parents from my uncle.
Everything else stayed pretty much the same, except we decided to not put up a few pieces of artwork.
I'm keeping the bed simple for resale. I might get some nicer pillow shams with a little color, though.
It's good to check this one off the list. It was a big job painting everything in the room and Mr. DIY did a great job.
Hope you are having a fantastic day,
UPDATE: you can see how I made the Master Bedroom a little more colorful HERE.

Love it and the chest for nightstands ! Where did you find those?
ReplyDeleteI found them at TJ Maxx several years ago.
DeleteLove the color makeover. I really feel his pain. I have been painting our house to a neutral gray...Notre Dame to be exact to get rid of an orange that I could not take another minute of so I do have pity.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice neutral. I can't believe you're selling your house, how did I miss that?
ReplyDeleteLooks great Pam. I think everyone struggles with these changes for re-sale since it's not always what we feel is our choice. I think it looks great and will be received well.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out pretty! I really need to paint the trim in our house. I just don't want to do it!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask where you got the curtains and do you know what color they are? I just moved into a house that has very brown walls. Trying to stay light and neutral with some curtains
ReplyDeleteI found the curtains at Ikea. They are the Lenda curtains.
DeleteThank you!!
