A Simple Summer Tablescape

Do you keep your table set?
I like to keep our breakfast table set because it looks pretty and it's an easy thing to do.

For my simple summer tablescape, I used dishes, flatware and accessories  I already had.
These little votive holders are my favorite. I found them at Target a couple of years ago.  Add an electric candle inside, especially if you have little children or curious pets. That way, they don't pose a fire hazard, but still look pretty.

I made this sign several years ago out of some scrap wood, some paint and a Sharpie marker.
I repainted the tall candle holders a couple of weeks ago. You can see what they looked like before HERE

I used my vintage Boopie glasses, some white china and some inexpensive green salad plates I found  awhile back at HomeGoods.

Your kids can help set the table. My girls set the table when they were very young. I'm talking 5 or 6. I took a few photos like this of a couple of table settings and let them choose how they wanted to set the table. The photo showed them what to put at each place setting.
When our girls were little our kitchen table only sat 2, so we ate at our formal dining table every night.

An older child can put together a simple centerpiece if the items are breakable.

Make sure the tablecloth or placemats are washable -- there will be spills!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Pam

  1. I agree it looks nice to see the table set up and that was a good idea for educating the girls when they were young. I have a glass table that drives me nuts so covering it with a tablecloth is a nice way to keep it looking neat!

  2. Beautiful Pam!!!....I used to keep my breakfast room table set, but now that I do not have one, I set the table or kitchen bar on a as needed basis!....I just loved the way a beautifully set breakfast room table was set all the time...
