Has it been a year already?
Lets start at the beginning...Here's the MLS photo of our Carolina Cottage. I love how it looks small, unlike our last house, which was all brick and 3 floors!

There were NO curtain rods in any room in the house and all the paint in the house is that awful chalky, flat, builder grade off white.

In order to unpack a lot of boxes, Mr. DIY customized or added new shelves to the closets...
The Coat Closet had a rod and 1 wire shelf before Mr. DIY added a new rod and 3 wood shelves.
Our new house has Two Pantries. The 2nd pantry was previously a 2nd coat closet. It holds all of our small appliances, Mr. DIY's cake decorating supplies, candles, party napkins, etc.
We needed that 2nd pantry because we previously had a 7ft wide pantry and the kitchen pantry was only 3 feet wide, shallow, and had only 4 wire shelves. Mr. DIY added a couple more shelves!
Like the pantry and master bath linen closet, the Hall Linen Closet only had 4 wire shelves and Mr. DIY added 2 more.
This wall of Ikea cabinets was a big splurge for the Garage. Our last house had a large, 3 car garage and this garage is a small 2 car. That's the negative part of being diyers...you need space for all your tools and supplies!
We did some more organizing in the Garage on the opposite wall.
The High Crawl Space is probably one of the biggest reasons why we bought this house. Our last house had a basement and even though we sold and gave away a lot of things, we still have a lot of things to store! Last Fall, we had a company come out and encapsulate it so the humidity would be low and we could store things in it without them getting musty. Mr. DIY added wood on the floor and shelves to hold our containers. The house is on a slight hill, so the crawl space under the back part of the house is 6 ft high. We still have to watch our head in spots, but this is an awesome space to have!
This is how our Daughter's Room looked before she moved into her own apartment last month.
Our daughter's room and the laundry room are the only 2 rooms in the house that have been painted.
I know, I know; we need to get on it!
In our defense, we have been working on the Mountain Cottage Reno at the same time!
I love how well the Laundry Room functions and how it looks now.
Here's how our Master Bedroom looked at Christmas. I think I need to do an update!
Master Bath now
Our Dining Room is larger than our last house and is great for hosting our newly married church group.

There's so much more to do...We've barely done any landscaping in the backyard, Mr. DIY still has a few boxes to unpack of tools and such and we're still organizing the garage and crawl space. I don't think we'll be finished any time soon. Mr. DIY just finished making our daughter a farmhouse bed and it's taking up my parking space in the garage, waiting for me to put a finish on it.
We still have lots of rooms to paint and now I have TWO guest rooms to decorate.
I know, 1st world problems.
We've enjoyed living here for the past year and it didn't take long to feel like home.
We downsized a lot our previous house to this one, but now that our daughter has moved out, it feels like it's grown larger!
That may be true, but, we won't be moving or downsizing again anytime soon!
