Spring Front Porch

Hello friends!
I’ve been planning to share our Spring Porch for a couple of weeks now, but you know the saying…

Life is what happens to us while we’re making other plans…


If you follow me on Instagram, I’ve shared that I pulled a muscle in my hip a couple of weekends ago. You never know how much you use that muscle until it’s not working!!!

So, the bunny and bicycle pillow on our half decorated Spring Porch sat for a couple of weeks until I could manage to stand up long enough to add the other decorations.

Enough about that! On to the Spring Porch!

I can’t have a Spring (and Summer) porch without ferns. A little tip about ferns: 

they’re a little messy!

To take care of them, keep the soil moist and give them a good shake once a week to get the shedding leaves off. I just shake them on the porch and then blow the whole porch off. Ferns also love it if you spray them with water.

Mr. DIY took me to Lowe’s a few weeks ago and we brought home some Gerbera Daisies and Ranunculus. Not sure how long Ranunculus last, but I know the Gerbera Daisies will last and bloom for a couple of years in a container. Just remember to water them in the Winter!

Now that the weather has warmed up, we'll be spending time on the front porch right before dinner.

Spring Porch

Spring arrived here in the Carolinas last month and has  quickly warmed up to summer temps.

The mornings are still cool and enjoyable and the humidity is low,

which makes it perfect for sitting outside on our front because the mosquitoes aren't out yet.

Gotta love that!

Wherever you are, now is the time to make a pretty little space outdoors to sit and take a break..

and drink your favorite refreshment

and listen to the birds

and look at the flowers blooming

and maybe even read a book.

I always pick up a few ferns and a few flowers and put them in pots around the porch.

 ...nothing fancy or expensive.

Just remember to water the flowers occasionally. 

(note to self)

I got out my Spring bouquet and hung it on the door.

It could use a big bow, don't you think?

Make it a habit today and take a break outside in a pretty spot, however short.

As the Nike slogan goes, just do it!
