Let's start with a Valentine's Day tablescape from 2015. Our breakfast room in our last house was my favorite space to decorate for a holiday or season.  

Setting a festive table is a simple and easy thing to do for a holiday. 

You have to eat, right?

Glitter Valentine's Hearts were an easy Valentine's Day craft for 2016.

I  shared our Valentine's Day tablescape in 2017. Oh, how I love to get out those Ruby Red glasses for Valentine's Day (and Christmas and maybe 4th of July).

In 2018 - a year I was not feeling well at all - I was still able to summoned enough energy to make this sweet Vintage Valentine Heart using some a vintage doilies and hand tatted lace that my grandmother made when she was a teenager back at the turn of the last century. I soldiered on with a muddled head and I'm glad I did.

In 2019 I shared a Valentine Vignette in our Foyer.  This cottage dresser in the Foyer at our current house is a great space to decorate for any season or holiday.

I made a LOVE Banner last Valentine's Day with some leftover supplies from our granddaughter's first birthday. The pale pink roses Mr. DIY gave me were perfect in the vignette.

Heart Shaped Pillows for Valentine's Day

Several days ago, I was searching the internet for a cute heart shaped pillow to give to our granddaughter for Valentine's day. Since she is only 2 years old, I was looking for a cute, smaller pillow that didn't cost an arm and a leg. After about an hour of searching and not finding anything, I realized (duh) that I could probably make one faster than I could find one that fit my criteria because I have quite a bit of fabric I've purchased and not used (yet) and smaller pieces of fabric leftover from other projects.

 

I found these two fabrics and texted this pic to our youngest daughter and asked her which one she liked better. 

I was hoping she'd pick the super soft stretchy raised dot fleece ivory fabric and not the Waverly floral print that was a small scrap leftover from the balloon shades I made for our girls' nursery in the early 1990s.
She picked the floral, so I decided to make two heart shaped pillows.

I quickly cut out two heart patterns from a roll of dot paper I've had since I worked in the fashion industry in Los Angeles over 30 years ago. You can make a pattern out of a paper bag or other large piece of paper.
Then, I pinned the patterns to each fabric and cut two pieces of each...2 of the ivory fabric in the large heart pattern and 2 of the floral fabric with the smaller heart pattern. 

Then, I stitched the two pieces together (right sides facing each other) and turned them right side out. I left an opening on one of the straight sides large enough to get my hand through and put the batting in.

I had some sheet batting, so I cut it up in small pieces and bunched them up. I also cut some larger pieces to put on top if it was lumpy. 

You can see the part that was not sewn and left open in this pic. I just kept stuffing until it looked good and didn't feel too firm. 

Just about perfect and ready to close. I still kept adding batting as I sewed the opening shut by hand.

All finished and ready to ship.

This project cost me ZERO as I had everything I needed in my craft room. 

Mr. DIY shipped the pillows (and a few other Valentine's gifts) to our granddaughter this morning.

Love Banner For Valentines Day

Valentine's Day is almost here!

Our foyer dresser is the perfect place to decorate for any holiday or season.
I found this cute faux rose wreath on Amazon awhile back and thought it would be perfect for a vignette for Valentine's Day. The wreath looked so pretty on the painted framed chalkboard, especially with the pale pink roses Mr. DIY surprised me with.

But, then I had an idea...

After the birthday party we threw for our granddaughter back in November, I remembered that there were some leftover supplies after making a birthday banner and Christmas tree decorations. Those supplies would be perfect to make a love banner for Valentine's day.

The gold vinyl letters are a little tricky to apply to the individual banner flags, but that's the first step since the flags were already made (even the holes were punched).

Once the letters were applied, I hot glued some painted leaves (that were previously cut off a garland and painted) to the banner flags.

The faux roses were hot glued over the leaves.

Then some pink ribbon (about 4 ft) was cut and strung through the flags.

The banner probably took me less than 30 minutes to make, since the banner flags were made and the leaves were already painted.

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?

I don’t go overboard decorating for Valentine’s day, but I do decorate a few places in the house, plus a little touches here and there.

The painted chalkboard on the cottage dresser in our foyer is my favorite place to celebrate a season or holiday.

Last time
I showed you how to make a vibrant red pom pom garland. I’ll post a link at the end just in case you missed it.

Once the garland was made and strung up over the frame of the chalkboard, other decorative accessories were gathered from around the house.

The Vintage Valentine Hearts were tucked away in the dining room buffet and the Jute covered vase was in the family room bookcase. 

If you remember, they are made out of some leftover fabric….

The best part ?
It’s leftover from when my Grandmother made me a dress when I was in elementary school. You can see the photo of me in that dress in my Valentine's Day Crafts post, linked below.

The faux lambs ear wreath is an online Hobby Lobby find.

Now the painted chalkboard on the cottage dresser in the foyer is all dressed for Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's Day Crafts

Valentine's Day is a month away and Valentine crafts seem to be popping up all over the place.

One year I made Paper Fortune Cookie Valentines for a Valentine's Day Craft and gave them as a personalized gift...

Each one had special messages for the person I gave it to.

They were super easy and fun and heartfelt.

My post on Wax Paper Crayon Hearts seems to be pretty popular on Pinterest right now. Did you make these in grade school like I did?

They look great hung in a window and could be made in all different sizes.

Last year I made these Cute and Easy Clay Hearts. I bought the bake-able clay at a hobby store.

I used one of my grandmother's crocheted doilies to make an imprint on some of them and cut them out with heart shaped cookie cutters.

These Vintage Valentine Hearts have special meaning to me because my grandmother made a dress for me out of that fabric when I was in grade school.  Glad she saved her leftover fabric.

Not really a craft, but a Valentine's Day dessert table from a few years ago...
