Guest Room Progress

O.k., I couldn't leave that awful photo of my guest room up all weekend as the first thing you see when you come to my blog, so here are a couple of updated ones.
The budget was really tight since  we are basically staging the room to sell the house. We bought the headboard and Basset nightstand at a friends estate sale for $125 and found the matching tall Basset dresser on Craigslist for $150. How great was that to find a matching set of furniture from 2 different places? The sheers were $24 from Lowes, the pillow and lamp are from Homegoods ($16.99 and $29.99) and the paint for the room was $25.(we had a gallon left over from when we painted the living room). The artwork was moved from other rooms. I painted the edge of the larger piece black to coordinate with the room.

I am looking for a comforter or matelasse quilt to replace the flowered comforter.

This morning I will be catching up on some painting projects. I need to paint a gold vanity mirror Oil Rubbed Bronze & paint something (not sure what to call it) silver for my daughters room.

Happy Saturday to everyone

Pam

  1. Oh my gosh, you have a button already! Great find on the furniture. That kind of stuff almost never happens to me.

  2. Tee, the button is there, but I haven't been able to figure out how to add the html so people can grab it! One of my girls will have to do it for me this weekend. They already know how to do this because they add cool graphics to their Myspace page.
Regarding the finds, I am still not that good at bargaining like some on these blogs are! Jess is a great bargain shopper. She always heads for the bargain rack first for clothes. But, she balances it out by going to places like Boris & Natasha boutique & buying Toms shoes!

  3. Hi Pam, my comment must have not went thru! I did say this room looks very warm and inviting. Also I a was thinking maybe you can reverse the comforter to the stripe and then just use the floral pillows......when are you actually putting your home up?

  5. Hey Debbie, the bed skirt is the same stripe as the reverse side of the comforter. I was leaning toward buying a matelasse cover & then folding the comforter back like I do on my bed. If I did that the I could put the stripe side up & put the flower shams behind cream colored ones. The comforter is really warm & cozy to sleep under.
We don't plan to be finished with doing the projects in the house until the end of May, so June 1st? If it sells ... good. If it doesn't, well then we have a nice house for another few years!
