Fall Changes On the Deck

I had a big list for the deck today as the pots are in dire need of changing out.  I didn't get it all finished, but I was able to plant some chrysanthemums.

Here's what I planted last Spring... Oh if they would only stay this beautiful!

Here's what they looked like today! It was so hot this summer, I had to water them once or twice a day - I couldn't keep them watered enough!

Here's what the deck rail planter looked like a few months ago. Ah, so fresh and pretty!

Here's what the planter looked like today!!! It didn't help that my cat Buddy slept in this container often. I couldn't keep him out of it. Finally, I just gave up trying!

Here's another Spring photo. The planters seemed to hold up until last week. I'm not even going to show you what this side of the deck looks like now.

I had planned on re-planting the deck rail planter and the iron scrolled planter today, but it was 91 degrees here, so this is the only planter that I finished!

If I can keep these watered and the weather cools down, then they should last awhile!
I'm going to have to cross my fingers on that one!! Is it still hot where you are or has it cooled down? Do you re-plant your pots for fall ? And, what kind of plants do you put in them? I would love to know!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. It all looks so pretty. It was still in the 90's today. The humidity was better but it's not supposed to last.

  2. Very pretty! I bought very small mums yesterday! Haven't put them in yet. Yours are gorgeous! I understand about giving up on the deck planters. But look at the before and after photos again. Isn't it amazing how much they actually grew in those few months!

  5. I need to change out my planters, too. It was a terribly hot summer this year, so my flowers did not do as well as in years past.:-( But I'm ready to get some mums, too. It is in the seventies today. Gorgeous!:-) Loving this weather we are having right now.

  6. Pam, the mums look great. I threw out all my spring flowers last weekend, too. They looked really bad. Now I need to get some pansies, and mums.

  8. I love these pots painted? Great idea to really get the flowers to pop. It is getting cooler up here in the NW and that is what we have to worry about a night freeze and then the geraniums will be done, and I will re-pot to mums, can't wait. I still have my hanging baskets of petunias...there are a few things about the nw that are good

  11. Those mums are very pretty...I love the color. I don't re plant pots unless something dies. I do have a big barrel that I add annuals to every once in a while. I just switch out the pots in different areas sometimes to shake things up a bit!

  12. The mums really do look so pretty! Summer was a ruff one here too. Mums are what I usually put on the porch for added/fresh color after the summer plants fade.
