A few days ago I showed you the artwork I made in my oldest daughter's bedroom. The room looks great doesn't it?
The dirty little secret is..............
....that in the corner just to the left is this little mess. My busy daughter keeps her college books, laptop, trash, etc all in this little corner. There's no room for a desk in her room and even if there were, the top of the desk would be a mess. This kept bugging me every time I went in her room, so...........................
I put her books in a covered basket that I wasn't using anymore.
Then, we re-routed all the cords and put her flowered lights in a vase. The vase is a temporary fix. I am going to look for something a little taller and in a complementary color. She uses her laptop while sitting in bed, so the top of the basket is perfect place to keep it. Mr. F also hooked up a corded switch near her bed so she can turn off the flower lights and not have to get out of bed.
Ok, fess up fellow bloggers, behind all those beautiful photos you share with everyone, do you have a dirty little secret?
Pam
Oh gosh. I live in a tiny apartment while I go to grad school. In my little room, I sleep, do homework, get dressed (my closet and little dresser need some serious organization, which is today's plan...maybe), and do all my sewing and crafting. It's a disaster. I'd never even take a picture of it!
ReplyDeleteHa! I have too many of those dirty little secrets!! Sometimes I have to move it all to take a picture!
ReplyDeleteI have been using Google Reader to go through my blogs and realized that I wasn't seeing your blog so I have missed a lot!! Trying to figure out why it isn't showing up because I am following!!!
Have a great weekend!
Love the basket! I have college textbooks floating around everywhere. I love that idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous solutions to all of those things we all have. My diry little secret is the DH's office. You will never see it. lol Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThat really looks so much nicer! I love the lighted flowers I was looking at some of those at Marshalls today, didn't buy them but I sure liked them. But honestly if you think that is a dirty little secret you should see my sons room. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOf course I have a mess usually not shown in the pictures just like you just showed. Very pretty room.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to solve the problem that was bugging you. The basket is a great idea and looks so nice. Love those little lights.
ReplyDeletePuhhh....you have no clue what you do not see Pam in my pics. Let's just say, they are left unknown to you. Great little secrets here. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAll the junk is on the other side of the room from where I am taking the pictures!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe all have messes that we don't show! It's called life!!! I really am an organized person and HATE clutter and messes so usually get them cleaned up pretty quickly. This office mess is driving me a little nuts:):):)
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea! If you don't mind me asking, what colour paint is on her walls??? Its amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, you didn't leave your email, but the color of the wall paint is Lucent Purple by Valspar(available at Lowe's)
ReplyDeletei love this quote from the nester:
ReplyDelete" I think our every day house with stacks of books and legos and messy desks is just as beautiful. If our house was clean and put together all the time, it’d be a real shame."

Ginny, you are a "no reply blogger" so I couldn't respond by email. Love the Nester~have met her and she lives in my area. I have an office that looks like hers (in her messy pics)most of the time. Lest you think I pick up after my daughters, I don't; I believe in just shutting the door. (I haven't even done my girls laundry since they were 12.) But when it comes to a daughter who has a difficult time focusing when things are organized, I offer a solution. I didn't say this, but I asked her ahead of time if it would be ok if I organized it for her. What I didn't show were the 3 huge piles of clothes on the other side of the room...which I didn't pick up. The whole point of the post was to show a simple, inexpensive fix to a corner that needed to be organized in order for the space to be useable.
