Moving Day

For eleven years I have known this day was coming, but that didn't make it any easier.
Jess always said she wanted to move back to California since the day we arrived in North Carolina.
Guess she's just a California girl.
5 am came very early this morning, probably because we were up until 1 am last night getting everything together. Two days ago I wasn't sure how I was going to make it until today, but being so busy was definitely a distraction.
Wanted to share with you the beautiful painting that my youngest daughter Jenny made for her sister in art class as a going away gift. The words are from a Katy Perry song.

Greyhound picked up 15 boxes on Wednesday~ that was tough for me seeing them go.
We filled up Jess' car with the rest of her stuff...odd shaped items such as her wire dress form, laundry basket, bedroom artwork and luggage.

Tim, being the sentimental one, made  pancakes for her one more time. He used to make them on Saturday morning and when they had sleepovers. Jenny wasn't happy about getting her photo taken at 5:30 am!

I gave Jess her own glue gun since she always used mine to make her feather clips.

After breakfast it was lots of hugs and I love you's...

And then they were off!

She will be back for Jenny's  graduation in two weeks, so I'm holding on to that.

Asking all of you to pray for a safe trip to California for them. They are planning to drive it in three days. The trip is close to 2,500 miles.
Pretty ambitious.
Today will be a long day and are aiming for Littlerock, Arkansas.

  1. What a beautiful post!I love the ohotos and your family is precious! Prayers are for them to have a safe journey. Blessings to you today and always Happy Mothers Day! Hugs Anne

  2. The art work is fantastic! I still need my morning coffee. But what a beautiful talented artist you have! Anne

  3. Lovely pics. I know it's really hard to let go of your children. I wish it got easier. My oldest if 40. I still call her just to talk

  4. Oh Pam,

Jess is moving for good to CA? How hard it must be for you...I'll be praying for a safe trip and for your sad 1/2 empty nest feeling...

    Love ya!

  5. Oh this is so hard. I feel your pain. I will pray for a safe trip. God Bless and Happy Mother's Day. Hugs, Marty

  6. Good luck to them on their trip and good luck to her in her new job.

Great pictures. I'm impressed that you got a couple of them driving away. I think that's when I would be crying and shaking the camera...

I'm glad she'll be back in 2 weeks!

    Take care,

  7. Lovely post. I know it's hard to let go. The fact that she'll be back in two weeks helps that, I know. Then, it won't be that long before the holidays start rolling around, & I'm sure she'll be back then as well! Hang in there.
    Happy Mother's Day!

  8. Oh,Pam. I'm sitting here just bawling. Been thinking about you lots these last few days. Consider all of yourselves prayed for. My sister's in Little Rock - I'll tell her to be on the lookout for them (giggle!)

p.s. You look mighty pretty to be up at such an ungodly hour!

  9. I love the painting, it's gorgeous! I'm sure it was very hard to say goodbye to your oldest daughter. I've been on the other side; it was hard to say goodbye to my dad when I left for college, and when we moved to our small town a year ago, I had to relive that all over again, only this time saying goodbye to my mom. It was tough, but I always look forward to visiting both of them now!! Praying for safe travels!!!

  10. I just stumbled onto your site about 5 minutes ago. Couldn't help getting teared up as I thought about my own daughter heading to NY in a few weeks.
I live just outside of LR. WARNING- A portion of (I-40) between Memphis and LR is closed due to flooding. The state highways they are rerouting traffic to are bumper to bumper. I work for a transportation company and we are rerouting our drives either far north or far south. Word is coming back to us that it takes 4 hrs to go 30 miles. Once they get to LR the roads are fine.
Good luck! I'll be praying for them.

  11. Certainty I will pray for you all. God be with you all and safe travels and return for your husband, and blessings to you as well. Emelia.

  12. Oh, I've been there, too. SO hard saying goodbye!

  15. Oh my, I have tears for you! I am feeling your pain as I've done this when my son moved to PA. I'm sure they will have a safe trip, but my prayers are with you all just the same! Happy Mother's Day...Liz

  16. I'll keep them and YOU in my prayers!
We will both have daughters in CA! It is far away but thankful for E-mails, webcam and flights to get us there.
    Hugs and Happy Mother's day!

  17. Oh Pam, it is so hard....No matter how far they go, or how old they are, they are still your baby. Safe trip to the duo..and happy Mother's Day to you! Libby

  18. Good luck and wish them a safest journey.... I can well imagine how hard it will be... for mothers kids alwayd KIDS Happy mother's day to you Pam...
