I have been so busy the past couple of weeks packing up my oldest daughter for her move to California that I didn't have a chance to show you what we did in our yard. It was time to spread some new mulch, especially because we will be having a high school graduation party for my youngest daughter in a few weeks.
We're not getting any younger, and our yard just started to seem overwhelming with two long paths that connected and went all the way down to the creek. Too much to take care of.
Y'all know I'm 51, right?
Here's a kind of before photo. As you can see, the big oak tree that needed to come down because it was dying is already cut down and the playhouse has been moved up. It used to be back by the tree.
These photos are all before we spread 15 yards of mulch.
We really needed new mulch...you can barely tell the difference between the cypress chips on the path(where there aren't any plants) and the beds. To save some work, I got rid of the path and planted some more liriope there.
This is what only 3 yards looks like. Multiply that by 5!
Here are the after photos... The following three photos were taken from our deck. We have a basement, so the deck is on the main floor of the house, but one story up from the yard.
For those of you who read my last post...as I write this, my husband and daughter have made it into California, had their double-doubles at In-n-Out burger and should arrive at my sisters house in a few hours. They incurred two days of detours...on Friday the floods between Memphis and Little Rock shut down I 40. Yesterday, brush fires shut down I 40 in New Mexico Nothing yet today, but you never know.
A big thank you to Backdoor Blessings for giving me a heads up regarding the detour on Friday. They were able to go around it and your comment probably saved them about 2 hours.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Mother's Day!!!
Pam
Update: The travelers have arrived at their destination: 5 pm Pacific time (9 pm Eastern)

So glad you daughter & hubby made the journey safe. Your backyard is breathtaking. It looks like a park. You will have a beautiful setting for that graduation party.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Pam!!
ReplyDeleteWe did some mulching etc this weekend too. And we are feeling it, this evening.:-) Especially J who moved a small wall, besides mulching. We like the results though.

Lovely blog!
Pam, your yard is gorgeous. That is a lot of hard work, but it looks so good. Our yard is getting out of hand and our back yard completely died out for some reason and is nothing but weeds. Makes me sick. We will eventually dig it up and start over.
ReplyDeleteeverything is so beautiful. really green and lush. great pics.

You yard is looking better than every Pam. In and Out burger sounded delish, love that place! Glad they made it, slow going but that's ok.
ReplyDeleteYour yard is beautiful!!! I'm hoping to replicate something similar in our backyard. It's completely dreadful and I joke to my husband that we should shoot video of it to win a backyard makeover from DIY network! Thanks for all the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I hope that one day we'll have a large yard that we can landscape like that. I love your patio in the woods- what a relaxing evening retreat it must be! :)
ReplyDeleteYour hard work is quite evident. What a lovely landscape!
ReplyDeleteTammy

ReplyDeleteO.k. now that makes our mulching to be done look like nothing. Your property is stunning. Great, great job!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a well manicured yard you now have. Agreed Sammy didn't want his picture taken; but what a sweetie pie he is. See you next week.
