Hello Friends!
Is the weather still hot where you are?
It will soon be time to break out soft cable knit sweaters and colorful scarves and warm cozy blankets out of big woven baskets.
Which brings me to decorating for Fall in the Family Room.
Who can resist walking past pretty sunflowers, fragrant eucalyptus branches and little pumpkins at shops around town?
They are some of my favorite things.
And, of course, they go nicely with Fall blankets and pillows.
Can you smell the eucalyptus branches?
They remind me of our little California cottage on Fairbrook Street. Even though the back yard was very, very small, we planted a spindly little Silver Dollar eucalyptus tree in the left corner, and it grew very tall over the years.
Maybe because that's the house Mr. DIY and I bought the year we were married...
or because that's the house we brought our baby girls home to after they were born...
or because of the countless family birthday and holiday celebrations with my mom and dad, brothers and sisters, in- laws and friends...
or because that's the house where my mom sat in the living room and played her favorite tunes on the piano she gave to our girls...
Isn't it amazing how one fragrance can bring back so many memories???
Hope you'll fill your house with something special this Fall.
...and build special memories with your family and friends for future days -
In the blink of an eye you'll look back to today and say remember when...
The future will be here before you know it.
So glad you stopped by
Pam

I've been looking for some black and white buffalo check pillow covers!! The family room looks so pretty and cozy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! The link to the buffalo check pillow covers I purchased are linked at the bottom of the post.
DeleteI like your light touch, Pam. Everything blends seamlessly and still looks festive! Very cozy, too. I like the plaid throw on the chair , and the toss pillows. I'm looking for something muted for my living room.
ReplyDeleteYou brought a tear to my eye remembering your very first house. We've lived in the same house since we got married thirty years ago. At one time it seemed so small-now that the kids have grown and left, it's too big. But I get a lump in my throat when I think of how this has been our haven for so long. :-D
Happy Fall, Pamela!

Thanks Jane! Wow, thirty years in the same house ...I would never be able to move!
DeleteYou must have so many wonderful memories in your house.
Happy Fall to you, as well!
Love it all Pam! I like the bold black and white checked pillows The fireplace looks wonderful and the fresh eucalyptus sounds so good. It's been a long time since I've had eucalyptus in my home. Your memories of the home in California are so sweet. What did you do with the little playhouse at the big house you moved from? Autumn is here- coming on too quickly for my liking!
ReplyDeleteAh, I should have mentioned the little playhouse in my post. Thanks for remembering it, maybe I'll edit my post to include the playhouse. We took it apart and brought it to our mountain house as the HOA at the house we live in doesn't allow sheds or outbuildings, plus our current backyard is too small.
DeleteWe still haven't put it back together again. This will be the 3rd time it has been rebuilt.
I bet it's hard to see your gorgeous garden go to sleep for the Winter. You've made it so beautiful!
Beautiful Pam! I love the colors that you have chosen for your Fall decor...and yes, I can smell the eucalyptus!! Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirley!
