Fall Decor From Amazon

*This post contains affiliate links

I don’t know how I ever lived without Amazon.

All of you over 35 or 40,  know that before the internet, we either had to get in the car and go shopping or order from a mail order catalog where it took 4-6 weeks to get your order. Seriously.

Now, I love going shopping, but these days I am still recovering and it may be awhile until I can do that again.

That’s where Amazon comes in…
This past week, I’ve ordered a couple of books, silicone straws, glass bottles, hibiscus tea to name just a few, and this past month; lots of Fall decor.

The Fall decor included some grapevine wreaths, faux white pumpkins , a fall leaf garland, some faux sage leaves, a few pillow covers and a couple of
buffalo check table runners. That’s not all, but let’s leave it at that!

Last year I ordered lots of buffalo check pillow covers.
I displayed them on the porch last Fall

and Christmas

I displayed them in the family room last Christmas...

I may have to get the light cream buffalo check for next Spring.

I also have my eye on a buffalo check rug for under the mat on the front porch.

This year, I found the fall leaf garland and faux sage…

and the faux white Pumpkins

You can also see one of the buffalo check table runners, too.

I purchased this Fall pillow cover that I’ll set out on the porch this year…
We’re still having summer weather here and it’s hard to
cozy up the porch for Fall when you walk outside and it’s still in the 90s with high humidity!
Hopefully next week the weather will turn a bit cooler; we shall see.

Here are a few more things that caught my eye:
Aren’t these beautiful flameless Fall candles?

If you prefer real candles; how about these?

So, even though the weather isn’t co-operating, the house will be decorated for Fall. I may look ridiculous laying out a cozy warm throw on the porch when it’s still 90 degrees out, but Fall weather has always arrived here in the South sooner or later.  This year it’s just later…
How is Fall where you are?
Wishing you lots of warm and cozy nights.

It’s been awhile since I made a good effort to decorate our mantel.
The last time was Christmas.

Oh, I put up some decorations for Valentines day, Spring and Summer, but I didn’t really go all out.
Since I only have one storage tote of Fall decorations, I ordered several things.
This year I really wanted a pretty Fall banner, and if you stopped by last time, I showed you how I made it.
There will be a link at the end of the post

Let’s get to the Autumn Mantel
I already had quite a few supplies: clock, burlap ribbon, the supplies for the banner, candle holders, wreath, wheat and votives.

The banner turned out well and was simple to make.

How To Make An Autumn Burlap Banner

This post contains affiliate links, which means I'll make a small commission should you purchase something from one of these links.

Amazon failed me.

I thought I could find a triangular burlap, bunting style  banner on Amazon to save me some time on my Fall decorating,
but alas, I could not.
So after looking everywhere online, I set out to make my own banner.

All the supplies needed in my craftroom:
Printer paper
Cardstock
Burlap
Burlap string
Glue gun and hot glue
Printer
Iron

To make the pattern for the triangle:
fold a piece of printer paper in half. Make a mark at the top 4” from the center and make the length 10 5/8” and draw a line from the 2 points.
At the widest part of the triangle, cut the corner back, from 5/8”, to make more of a diamond shape. This edge will be folded down to hold the string.

Trace the paper pattern onto some cardstock or thick paper and cut out.

Trace the cardstock pattern onto the burlap and cut out the triangles.

Fold the tops down 5/8” down and press it with an iron.
Cut string to the length you need, plus about 36", and place the string under the folded burlap.

Hot glue inside the fold.
*Tip: use a popsicle stick to press the fold while the glue is drying, so you don’t burn your fingers.

Print out your letters on cardstock.
Cut another piece of cardstock about 3/8” smaller on all sides than the burlap triangle.

Hot glue the printed cardstock onto the burlap.

The finished banner! (The link to my Fall Mantel is below my name.)

I’ll be sharing our mantel decorated for Fall next time.
Here’s a sneak peek:

Hope you stop by next time.
Please say a prayer for all those in the path of hurricane Florence.
We’re expecting some wind and rain here in Charlotte, and hopefully our power will stay on.

Fall On The Screened Porch

Welcome friends!

Do you have a favorite spot in your house, but in the Summer it's a little warm in the late afternoon?
Well, that's our Screened Porch.

Now that's the weather is cooler, it's a lovely space to sit and enjoy any time of day - it's even perfect in the late afternoon.

I ordered a few things and pulled some other things from here and there and decorated the Screened Porch for Fall.

Fall In The Foyer... and a little extra

How are you friends?

Hope you are doing well and enjoying Fall wherever you are.
Last week I told you about the first room I decorate for any season. The little dresser in our Foyer is also a space I always decorate seasonally, even if I don't get any other space decorated in the house.

Fall Tablescape

After spending a week at the cottage last week, I was ready to make something pretty.

If you saw the Mountain Cottage (before) House Tour of the interior, you will understand why.
Not only was the interior looking pretty bad and in need of an update, it was
REALLY dirty.....
as in "it hadn't been cleaned in years and someone who lived there was a smoker" dirty.

Add to that, we were basically camping in the house as there is no furniture there yet, and we were sleeping on air mattresses (but we bought 3" thick gel foam pads to go on top),
and add to that.....I was stung over 8 times on my left arm by yellow jackets because I mistakenly stepped on a yellow jacket nest...

oh, and we had no internet or tv.

All I could think of all week was that we are soooooo spoiled and blessed living where we do back home. (and of course, because we have a mountain cottage to reno)
After coming home, I definitely needed a little prettiness, so I did the easiest thing to pretty up the house and that was to set a pretty table in the Breakfast Room.

I already had all of the dishes, chargers, napkins, placemats, etc.

But, I did splurge on these little guys. Found them at Trader Joe's for 99 cents each.

They also had these gorgeous mums for $5.99

Just couldn't resist these beauties. Of course, I will prune them back and plant them in a sunny spot after they are finished blooming.

What do you like to do when you feel the need to make something pretty?
Do you plant some flowers, fluff up your Family room, set a table?
Would love to know.

Easy Fall Banner

Hey everyone!
Hope you're having a good week so far.

We're working on the cottage this week, so I haven't been around much, but follow me on Instagram as I've been posting some pics of our progress.

Last week I  posted my Fall Mantel and thought I'd share how I made a super easy banner out of burlap.

Since we're saving every penny for the cottage reno, the banner cost me exactly ZERO  because I used leftover burlap and some ribbon I already had.
This is all you need to make a banner:
Burlap
Ribbon
Sharpie Marker
Glue or Hot Glue Gun
Ruler & Scissors

That's it!!!

First I cut out one triangle about 8 inches high and wide.

Then, I cut out 6 more in this fashion to save fabric. (I only had about a quarter of a yard left over from another project)

After that, I just drew my letters freehand using a ruler. I drew the outline of the letter out, then used the edge of the ruler to fill in.

Finally, I strung the ribbon on the mantel to get the right length and then, hot glued the top 2 corners of the triangles to the ribbon.
Super easy.

So, has it finally gotten cool where you are?
We drove up to Boone yesterday and it was a gorgeous day and some of the leaves were turning.
Can't wait to see that where we are.
