Happy Fall 2020

This post contains affiliate links

Happy Fall Everyone!

I think we're going to have normal Fall weather  here in the Carolinas this year (crossing fingers).

The heat and humidity turned off a few weeks ago and now we're enjoying warm sunshine with cool breezes.

Cooler weather makes for gorgeous Fall colors. I'm hoping to see the trees at our mountain cottage turning  vibrant oranges, reds and yellows. This photo was taken a few months after we bought our cozy cottage in early Fall of 2013.

Every year since then, I have been chasing this photo, but the colors have never rivaled the ones in this pic. One year kids were wearing short sleeves on Halloween. Another year we had very little rain. Heat and lack of rain aren't the ingredients needed for spectacular Fall colors.

The copious amounts of rain we've had in 2020 and the weather cooling off on time at the end of August, should produce fabulous Fall colors.

Again, CROSSING FINGERS

Then, of course, we have to be at our mountain house when peak color hits.

You can see more beautiful photos from that Fall HERE.

Some Fall porches have been my favorite. The one shown below was one of those, but as I recall, I was sweating as I was decorating it for Fall. You can read about it HERE

My favorite Fall porch at our previous house was this one filled with mums lining the steps. You can find more photos of this porch HERE.

The Screened Porch at the house we live in is the perfect place to spread a little Fall. This space is a great place to sit and relax or eat a dinner when the weather is nice. You can seen more of our Fall Screened Porch HERE

A simple Fall craft with supplies you might already have around the house is a good way to decorate without having to spend any money, especially if money is tight this year.  You can see that post HERE.

Setting a pretty Fall table is also a festive way to refresh the house for the Autumn season. Gather things you already have around the house, and if you have kids, let them decorate the table every day. You can find more pics of this tablescape HERE.

Last, but not least, if you have a fireplace mantel, break out your Fall decor and celebrate the season! You can see more of this mantel HERE.
You can find the post on how I made the simple Autumn Banner HERE

I hope 2020 has beautiful Fall colors and weather in store for all of us...as we definitely would appreciate it with all that is going on around the world and in our country right now.

Thanks for stopping by,

Pam

Fall Decor From Amazon

*This post contains affiliate links

I don’t know how I ever lived without Amazon.

All of you over 35 or 40,  know that before the internet, we either had to get in the car and go shopping or order from a mail order catalog where it took 4-6 weeks to get your order. Seriously.

Now, I love going shopping, but these days I am still recovering and it may be awhile until I can do that again.

That’s where Amazon comes in…
This past week, I’ve ordered a couple of books, silicone straws, glass bottles, hibiscus tea to name just a few, and this past month; lots of Fall decor.

The Fall decor included some grapevine wreaths, faux white pumpkins , a fall leaf garland, some faux sage leaves, a few pillow covers and a couple of
buffalo check table runners. That’s not all, but let’s leave it at that!

Last year I ordered lots of buffalo check pillow covers.
I displayed them on the porch last Fall

and Christmas

I displayed them in the family room last Christmas...

I may have to get the light cream buffalo check for next Spring.

I also have my eye on a buffalo check rug for under the mat on the front porch.

This year, I found the fall leaf garland and faux sage…

and the faux white Pumpkins

You can also see one of the buffalo check table runners, too.

I purchased this Fall pillow cover that I’ll set out on the porch this year…
We’re still having summer weather here and it’s hard to
cozy up the porch for Fall when you walk outside and it’s still in the 90s with high humidity!
Hopefully next week the weather will turn a bit cooler; we shall see.

Here are a few more things that caught my eye:
Aren’t these beautiful flameless Fall candles?

If you prefer real candles; how about these?

So, even though the weather isn’t co-operating, the house will be decorated for Fall. I may look ridiculous laying out a cozy warm throw on the porch when it’s still 90 degrees out, but Fall weather has always arrived here in the South sooner or later.  This year it’s just later…
How is Fall where you are?
Wishing you lots of warm and cozy nights.

Autumn Mantel

It’s been awhile since I made a good effort to decorate our mantel.
The last time was Christmas.

Oh, I put up some decorations for Valentines day, Spring and Summer, but I didn’t really go all out.
Since I only have one storage tote of Fall decorations, I ordered several things.
This year I really wanted a pretty Fall banner, and if you stopped by last time, I showed you how I made it.
There will be a link at the end of the post

Let’s get to the Autumn Mantel
I already had quite a few supplies: clock, burlap ribbon, the supplies for the banner, candle holders, wreath, wheat and votives.

The faux pumpkins, garland and faux sage floral are all available on Amazon. The links are below.Autumn mantel, fall mantel, pumpkins, white pumpkins, farmhouse, cottage, fall banner, autumn banner

The banner turned out well and was simple to make.

How To Make An Autumn Burlap Banner

This post contains affiliate links, which means I'll make a small commission should you purchase something from one of these links.

Amazon failed me.

I thought I could find a triangular burlap, bunting style  banner on Amazon to save me some time on my Fall decorating,
but alas, I could not.
So after looking everywhere online, I set out to make my own banner.
fall mantel, fall banner, autumn banner, cottage, farmhouse, fall deco

All the supplies needed in my craftroom:
Printer paper
Cardstock
Burlap
Burlap string
Glue gun and hot glue
Printer
Iron

To make the pattern for the triangle:
fold a piece of printer paper in half. Make a mark at the top 4” from the center and make the length 10 5/8” and draw a line from the 2 points.
At the widest part of the triangle, cut the corner back, from 5/8”, to make more of a diamond shape. This edge will be folded down to hold the string.

Trace the paper pattern onto some cardstock or thick paper and cut out.

Trace the cardstock pattern onto the burlap and cut out the triangles.

Fold the tops down 5/8” down and press it with an iron.
Cut string to the length you need, plus about 36", and place the string under the folded burlap.

Hot glue inside the fold.
*Tip: use a popsicle stick to press the fold while the glue is drying, so you don’t burn your fingers.

Print out your letters on cardstock.
Cut another piece of cardstock about 3/8” smaller on all sides than the burlap triangle.

Hot glue the printed cardstock onto the burlap.

The finished banner! (The link to my Fall Mantel is below my name.)

I’ll be sharing our mantel decorated for Fall next time.
Here’s a sneak peek:

Hope you stop by next time.
Please say a prayer for all those in the path of hurricane Florence.
We’re expecting some wind and rain here in Charlotte, and hopefully our power will stay on.

Cozy Home Essentials For Fall

This post contains affiliate links, which means I’ll make a small commission should you purchase something from one of these links, so thank you in advance.

Can y’all believe it’s September 1st???

Soon the nights will cool off and the leaves will turn gorgeous shades of yellow, orange and red.
We’ll be breaking out cozy blankets, throws and setting out Fall pillows.
So, in honor of September and the upcoming season of Fall,
I’ve put together a few Fall essentials that will make your home cozy and keep you warm on those chilly nights ahead.

You can never have too many pillow covers…
or at least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
Fall is the season to be thankful and this give thanks pillow is perfect.
Click on the pic to take you to the Amazon link.

Of course, Buffalo check pillows go with everything!

If you need a pop of color, these pillow covers fit the bill.

I love this ivory and navy pillow from Stone and Beam

Here’s a linen/velvet look pillow from Stone and Beam.

A warm throw is a necessity when the days cool off.
That Navy pillow would look great with this cozy orange fringe throw

This pom pom throw is so cute. I can’t decide between it and…

…this pretty blue/grey fringe throw.

Of course you’ll need a big basket for all your Fall throws and pillows.
I keep one  in our bedroom, living room and guest rooms. Keep a basket of throw blankets
near the front door so you can grab  one on on the way out to sit on the porch and watch the sun set.

September starts my countdown until Fall. 21 more days!
Who’s counting down the days with me?
