The Farmhouse Bed is finished and our daughter is enjoying sleeping in it in her new apartment!!!
If you remember, our daughter asked Mr. DIY to make her a queen sized bed. He made one for her in 4 days and it took me at least 10 days to finish it.
We have dinner with our daughter once a week and take turns between her place and ours. It's pretty awesome having a grown up daughter who invites you over for dinner.
A couple of weeks ago, we had dinner at her place and brought the bed over. She we so happy that her mattress wasn't on the floor anymore.
If you missed how Mr. DIY built the Farmhouse bed, you can find it HERE.
You can see the post on how I distressed the bed HERE.
Our daughter painted the back of the bookcases in navy. They were previously turquoise. This was her first DIY project. I think they look great!
Kitty seems to love the bed, as well and picked a spot right on the corner closest to the door.
Most beds these days are super low to the floor, which doesn't allow for anything to be put under the bed. Our daughter has always stored things under her bed and asked that the bed be high enough to store containers underneath. Mr. DIY built the bed so there is 12" of clearance under the side rails.

The bed came out beautifullly and looks wonderful in your daughters apartment. Good job by Mom and Dad, and
ReplyDeletelike the navy in the back of her shelves, so job well done by daughter as well. A lovely sophisticated look for her and kitty's room...lol
It is wonderful to have a daughter or son who has you over for dinner. We love that too with our grown up
children.....

Thanks so much Nellie! So glad you stopped by.
DeleteI love how it looks- you both did a wonderful job with it. She will always treasure it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz. I hope she does!
DeleteYour husband has a lot of talent! I was so happy to see you stop by---I don't know how we lost touch! From what I remember he was a chef? And you guys were huge on gardening. I have to catch up.
ReplyDeleteThat bed is awesome, I love the headboard. Kitty adds to the charm! You did a fantastic job finishing it up. Is that a whitewash?

I was pretty sick for a year and I only had the energy to visit a couple of blogs. I'm still recovering a couple years later, but am a lot better. Have been thinking about you for a couple of months, then saw you had commented on a blog I visited, so I clicked on over. We downsized last year and don't have much gardening to do here (yet). Between our mountain cottage whole house reno and upfitting this how to how we like it, we've been staying pretty busy. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteJust wondering whether you could package the very talented Mr DIY up and send him to my place in Australia.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
Ziggy Harry, you're too funny! He'd probably love to visit Australia!
